 If you are in doubt as to the authenticity
of a Website, here is an easy way to reduce the chances of your computer becoming
infected. It does not guarantee absolute safety, but will be as accurate as possible,
excepting only the very latest malpractices.
Google uses automatic algorithms and user feedback to compile a list of sites that
may be dangerous. The list is updated regularly to keep it as current as possible.
This routine, written in VB.Net and ASP.Net, checks to see if Google has recorded
any malicious software that has been downloaded and installed without the visitor's
consent, from the suspect Website.
I strongly advise that, before any new Website is accessed, the URL be checked with
this routine to minimise the possibility of getting infected. It is better to be
safe rather than very sorry!
